Packing artwork for a move requires special care to protect delicate and valuable pieces from damage. Here are the steps to properly pack artwork:
1. Gather the necessary materials: You will need acid-free paper, bubble wrap, packing tape, cardboard boxes, corner protectors, and a marker.
2. Clean the artwork: Use a soft, lint-free cloth to gently clean the surface of the artwork. Avoid using any cleaning agents, as they may damage the piece.
3. Protect the surface: Cover the artwork with acid-free paper to create a protective layer. Secure the paper with low-tack artist tape, so it doesn’t leave any residue on the artwork.
4. Bubble wrap: Wrap the artwork with a layer of bubble wrap. Make sure to choose a bubble wrap with smaller bubbles to provide more cushioning.
